AFC East Preview Part 3

Buffalo Bills – Unfortunately for Buffalo there doesn’t appear to be much to look forward to, but regardless, they do have a season to play out and hope for the best.
It isn’t a total loss for Buffalo, as they not only have their top gun LeSean McCoy still in his prime, but clearly one of league’s top running backs in McCoy, at the age of 29.
With key losses in the offseason there isn’t much proven veteran talent left heading into the season. Gone are starters: Sammy Watkins (WR), Robert Woods (WR), Ronald Darby (DB), Stephon Gilmore (DB) – signed with division rival Patriots -, all three positions represent the most turnover from a year ago at skilled positions.

They also are young and unproven in the front office with first-year head coach, Sean McDermott and first-year general manager Brandon Beane. Both who don’t consider this a team that is rebuilding. When word broke of the team trading two of their top performers, Sammy Watkins and Ronald Darby, and immediate speculation of the Bills “tanking”, general manager Brandon Beane was annoyed by the report. But in the present structure in Buffalo says anything but, as they now own six picks in the first three rounds of the NFL 2018 draft. Despite a coupe of recognizable veteran talent left, there is no doubt around the league that the Bills are focused on a more long-term approach, and not the present.

With Tyrod Taylor under center, LeSean McCoy, veteran addition wide receiver Jordan Matthews, and highly regarded wide receiver (from this years draft) Zay Jones, there is enough on the roster to be intrigued by, but don’t expect as many positive weeks, as there will be down weeks for Buffalo.

One positive from this year’s team however come for fantasy lovers primarily. Those of you that have LeSean McCoy, and coming off a great season just last year, can expect another follow-up, if not better this year. Two of his primary competition for targets and goal line carries, being Sammy Watkins and Mike Gillislee have found new homes in the off-season. And with McCoy being a two-way skilled back both being featured heavy on the ground and through the air, there is that much more opportunity for LeSean with those guys now gone from the equation.

*Prediction (4-12)

Buffalo Bills – Third Place. Realistically I see three wins… But like they say “any given Sunday in the NFL” So they could steal a game and make it four.
